Monica's life has been inspired by the joy and inspiration she experiences through physical and energetic movement. With a diverse history of spiritual and physical discipline including month-long vipassana retreats and dedicated practice of qigong, dance and yoga, she has come to possess an intense desire to discover what can be attained through the form of the human body.

Monica completed her first yoga Teacher Training Program with Erich Schiffman in 1996, and in 2000, trained in Yin Yoga with Sarah Powers and Paul Grilley. Her ongoing exploration led her to her present teachers, Zhander Remete and Emma Balnaves of the Shadow Yoga School, from whom she feels both inspired and grateful.

Monica has taught Hatha Yoga since 1996 and leads backpacking retreats combining yoga and mindfulness in the wilderness of California and Oregon. As a licensed acupuncturist, Monica seeks to inspire and awaken the potential of health and freedom in her clients.  For more information about Monica visit www.MonicaRudestam.com.

Jimmy Essien

As a child Jimmy was fascinated with music and was determined to understand and express himself through various instruments. At age 17 he became intererested in the universal laws underlying music and its effect on the psyche, and after experimenting with many meditation and pyschic development techniques, he found a resonance in the teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff. In 1999 he joined Two Rivers Farm, a Gurdjeiff study group, and he began to apply the universal laws that he understood through music to other life skills including carpentry, writing, and qigong. He is the founder of www.QigongFinder.com and has travelled extensively throughout Europe in order to study sacred architecture, meet with other seekers and, most insightful of all, to people-watch.

Jimmy is convinced that one has the ability to open the mind and spirit through very deliberate work with the body, and that the key to understanding this is through development of  the attention. In his practice of qigong he finds that by developing a strong quality of attention to the body, many insights are revealed.
